Born Rhodesian (Zimbabwean) 1956 and spent most if not all my formative years in the bush. Attending country boarding schools junior and senior.
At my high school, I sold all of my artwork, which was in demand from my teachers. In fact my art teacher namely Mr.MacDonald gave me the key to the art room where I spent much of my time when not out in the bush, catching snakes, insects, and pookies (bush babies).
Then, I spent 5 years in Selous Scouts as a tracker. As a tracker, it was essential to have a broad understanding and knowledge of all formats of fauna and flora. A good study of wildlife and also an intuitive read on animal behavior patterns and signs. Couple all this with getting to know the tribal traditions and languages, therefore, so to say I am a bushman is an understatement...
I worked with Gametrackers International. This allowed me to travel extensively. I spent 7 years in California LA, where I , and a renowned photographer, Anyes Galleani, set up a studio together.
We married, and it was here that I honed my photography skills. (For the record, we are divorced now but still good friends) Check her out on Saatchiart.com. I subsequently returned to RSA and have been somewhat deskbound. My graphic design came from creating websites. (My ex and I built the very first RSA website Link2South Africa. I hope this bio helps you and gives a better understanding of my background.
The magic of photography is that it allows moments in time that you can re- visit as often as you like.
Photography also makes you become more aware of your surroundings and allows you to appreciate many different forms of beauty from a new perspective and then with platforms like Youpic one is able to share these spectacular images that you captured in that timeline.
