Pablo A. Tonatiuh Álvarez Reyes is a director, screenwriter, and photographer from Mexico City. He studied journalism at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and screenwriting at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC).
He has done various jobs for the Circo Volador organization, and is the founder of the CUYO FILMS production company, responsible for more than 15 fiction short films, and the feature film in post-production period entitled La Llamada. Its main themes are social, environmental and in favor of human values.
With his short If the memorials speak, he has obtained recognition from the TODOS SOMOS OTROS festival and the MVS program DAME TV, as well as the selections at the festivals ZANATE 2013, CONTRA EL SILENCIO TODAS VOCES 2014, and DOCSTOWN 2014.
He has obtained awards and recognitions from institutions such as the ECO FILM FESTIVAL in three editions, the Guanajuato State Tourism Secretariat, IMJUVE, Youth Integration Centers (CIJ), EXA TV, La casa del cine, the Autonomous University of the City de México (UACM), the festival TODOS SOMOS OTROS and Memorial del 68, among others.
He has collaborated on television stations such as Once TV, MVS, TV UNAM, TV AZTECA, TELEVISA, and TELEMUNDO in production, directing and screenwriting.
He directed the video dance Piel Tapiz selected at the FIVER (Spain) AGITE Y SIRVA (Latin America) VIDEODANZABA (Argentina) FIVU (Uruguay) and FACU (Mexico) festivals.
His work as a photographer highlights his images of Mexican contemporary dancers POBLANOS EN DANZA, NOBODY TAKES WHAT DANCED FROM US, DANCE IS UNDERSTOOD PEOPLE and POS ME JUMP IN DANCE, and his project of photo montages of social criticism, titled SIN FORGETTING that has been exhibited in various spaces in Mexico City, and in which the invitation of the organization Article 19, the Aguafuerte gallery, the Pulquería Insurgentes, Casa de la memoria indomita, and the National School of Anthropology and History (ENAH ). Currently she presents the SIRENAS PROJECT, montages that seek to reflect on violence against women, and femicides in Mexico.
