I entered 'Random' as my expertise because I don't consider I have an expertise. I am still very much a learner.

I had no interest in photography as such until I went to Africa several years ago. I just couldn't get close enough to the birds or animals I wanted to photograph, and my camera had a slight delay between when I pressed the shutter and when it took the shot. I stated then and there that when I returned to Australia I was going to get a real camera and learn how to use it!

I have been doing just that since then, with the help of my sister, a freelance travel writer and photographer, and a Meetup photography group I've joined.

My particular interests are trees, birds and animals, but I am attending every photography event I can and trying everything I can. I am becoming interested in a wider range of photography styles, including macro, having recently purchased a macro lens.
