Biography

Derek entered professional photography in the late ‘60s and was first attracted to the fashion business, where he spent a glamorous year assisting well-known photographers on assignments for the leading magazines of the time. But with his love of light, it was the still life images that attracted his first commissioning clients. It also got him a job assisting the great still life photographer, David Thorpe. Two years later he had the portfolio and confidence to face the world of London advertising. Before he knew it, he had his first studio in London, shooting campaigns for big agencies and winning entries in D&AD shows. With forty years in photography, endless client list and awards to match, there is no surprise that he is one of the industry’s finest photographers.
